Topic: Good In The Midst Of Darkness
Text: Genesis 1:1- 31
Key verse: In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Verse 1 (NLT)
Growing up as a child, l had a terrible fear of darkness. This fear grew worse when l had to live in the boarding house in my secondary school days. I couldn\’t go where l wanted , because of darkness. I would always look for people to help me get things done, and sometimes they was no one.
Our text today reveals something about darkness that is quite instructive. The presence of darkness is not the most important thing to focus attention on. Darkness hides potential.
The earth was covered with deep waters and darkness covered the waters. Notice, the Spirit of God hovered over the surface of the waters. The presence of the Spirit had great possibilities that could be ignored because of the darkness. God saw potential in spite of the darkness.
God spoke and separated the light from the darkness. Why the darkness was not completely eliminated by the Omniscient God is because there is good in darkness.
There are many benefits in darkness which we will explore in the coming days.
God by the spoken word made a demarcation between light and darkness so each one will serve its unique purpose. He created the light that will serve in the season of light, and the lights that will serve in the season of darkness. Hallelujah! even in the time of darkness, there is still light!
The coming of light reveals the potential hidden away by darkness, the creatures in the earth, water and air were revealed with time. Different kinds of plants were brought forth at God\’s word. All the wonders of the earth came out as soon as darkness was separated.
God in his wisdom still decided that it will not be an unending season of light only, God allowed the season of darkness called night to remain for man’s benefit.
The more l read about biographies of successful people, the more l see how the darkest seasons of their lives gave birth to the glorious lives they lived.
We must trust and embrace God’s wisdom. Only then, can we see and understand God’s ways.
Great songs, ministries, businesses, talents have all come to the limelight after darkness was separated from light.
Walk with the Lord, as he shows you how the Spirit and the word can work together for your good in the midst of darkness.
Blessings,
