How To Trust

Topic: How to Trust

Text:  Isaiah 55

Key Verse: \”My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine\”

\”Never be afraid to trust an unknown future to a known God\”. – Corrie ten Boom

It is very difficult to trust anyone after you have been betrayed before by a friend, colleague, or close family member. If people have broken their promises to you several times, it is also difficult to believe a new promise too. Our devotional today starts with a quote that gives you a good reason why you must trust God. The future is unknown, and man cannot be trusted 100% because he has limitations that are beyond him, but a known God can be trusted. His antecedents are documented in the Old and New Testaments of the Bible.

Because God is omniscient and eternal, his depth of wisdom cannot be measured by any form of human analysis or reasoning. When we choose to live by faith, we are willingly signing up to trust his wisdom even when it doesn\’t make sense to us, or sound logical. How do you explain the logic of giving and receiving? The natural man wants to hold unto what he has so it can increase, but God\’s word says:  “Give and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full—pressed down, shaken together to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” Luke 6:38

In essence, God\’s wisdom says, when you give it will be multiplied back to you. This principle is exemplified in agriculture, what you plant always comes back in multiples as your harvest. \”Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything\” Proverbs 11:24. Man can fail but God never fails. We must trust his ways of doing things, his timing, and his sincere love for us.

I struggled with giving during scarcity, it was very easy for me to give when l had abundance, so l had to learn to give in faith, believing God\’s word that l will never be stranded. Then the Lord taught me to give sacrificially, to give to meet the needs of others even when my own needs had to wait. It was not easy but l learned; sometimes with tears in my eyes l will release the gift. The beauty of trusting God\’s way is that it is between you and him, and he always stands by his word to perform what he has promised. Those you give to in cash or kind may never know what your gift cost you, but the one who sees in secret rewards openly.

During my wilderness experience God gave me a promise in Deuteronomy 6:10-12, it sounded too good to be true, but l testify that at different times l have seen this promise come to pass in real-time. The way he did it l never imagined, but the promises have been fulfilled.

Take a risk on God, he is not like those who hurt or betrayed you, neither is he like those who used, misused, and abused you. He is a faithful God and stays faithful to the end.
