7 Day Christmas Devotional for Women of Purpose
Topic: Courage to Say Yes to God
Text: Luke 1: 26-38
Key verse: These are the facts concerning the birth of Jesus Christ: His mother, Mary, was engaged to be married to Joseph. But while she was still a virgin, she became pregnant by the Holy Spirit. Matthew 1: 18(TLB)
MARY: Courage to Say Yes to God
Mary was young, ordinary, and living a quiet life when God interrupted her plans. The angel’s message was good news: she had found favour with God, but the consequences of that choice were confusing. How would she bear a child without being married? Saying yes would expose her to misunderstanding, shame, and uncertainty.
God had promised in the garden that the seed of the woman would bruise the head of the serpent. Who that woman would be was about to be revealed. Being chosen and called is a great privilege, but the call comes with a cost. God never forces us to serve him, but always invites us into a partnership. When we yield ourselves in obedience, He works out the rest of the details as He did for Mary.
With God’s power working in us, he can do much, much more than anything we can ask or think of. Ephesians 3:20(ERV)
Courage to Say Yes to God
Luke 1:26-38 & 2:1-20
Mary chose to trust even though she didnt understand how things would work out. She did not have all the answers; it had never happened before, but she believed the angel who said, “The impossible is possible with God.” Her courage was not in knowing how everything would turn out, but in embracing God’s will and saying Yes!
“Here I am, the Lord’s humble servant. As you have said, let it be done to me.”
Mary reminds us that courage sometimes begins with a simple yes, even when the cost is high and the future unclear.
Her Courage
- Courage to believe the word of God over logic or reason
- Courage to be a vessel in God’s hand
- Courage to face the consequences of the choice
Reflection
Courage does not deny the existence of fear of the unknown. It is choosing to rest in the promises, power and faithfulness of God, to do us good and not evil.
Christmas reminds us that God fulfilled salvation’s plan when a young woman said yes to His call. May this thought fill your heart with hope and a renewed sense of purpose.
What is God calling you to say yes to in your family, work or community?

God is calling me to let go of what I was doing before and get more involved in mentoring. It’s a call to trust Him in a new way.
Praise God Mama, his grace is available to make you fruitful in this season.
God help me to always recognize His voice when He speaks, and that my answer will always be ,
I’ll say “Yes, Lord , Yes”
To Your will and go your way
Ill say “Yes, Lord, yes
I will trust and obey
When Your Spirit speaks to me
With all my heart I’ll agree
And my answer will always be , “Yes, Lord,Yes”!
God is calling us to put His agenda before ours. Mary shelved her wedding plans, risked losing the love of her life because she considered Gods purpose superior. Lord God help me to lead a surrendered life .
