Understanding the mind and its a role in spiritual learning

Topic: Understanding the mind and its a role in spiritual learning

Text: Deuteronomy  17:18-20
Key verse: He must always keep that copy with him and read it daily as long as he lives. That way he will learn to fear the Lord his God by obeying all the terms of these instructions and decrees.*

The Mind is a great blessing,  l sometimes imagine what life would have been if we lack the power to recall, then people,  places, events, and memories would have no value to us. God is so good to have blessed us with the mind as a storage device.  Like the common IT phrase:  garbage in garbage out( GIGO), what you put into the mind is what you get out of it.
The mind is the place where the desire and ability to learn resides. But just like the muscle needs to be exercised to manifest its strength,  the mind has a process of learning.
Today,  we have several institutions of learning specializing in different fields,  but there is a basic curriculum required for early years, to ensure that the basic building blocks of an individual\’s education are not omitted.
You have been taught the holy Scriptures from childhood, and they have given you the wisdom to receive the salvation that comes by trusting in Christ Jesus. 2 Timothy  3:15
Similarly,  in the matters of spirituality,  God has provided detailed documentation of his will, statutes,  commandments, and laws so that we may have an accurate knowledge of who God is,  and approach and relate with him in the manner most profitable for us. The knowledge of God is a revelation,  you need God to reveal himself to you,  that is why he gave man the Holy Spirit to lead him into all truth.
For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. – 2 Peter 1:21
All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.G od uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work. – 2 Timothy 3:16-17

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope. – Romans 15:4
In our key text,  we see how God instituted an order,  that required newly installed  Kings to write out the law with their hand.
“When he sits on the throne as king, he must copy for himself this body of instruction on a scroll in the presence of the Levitical priests. – Deuteronomy 17:18
The reason for this command was to ensure that they know them and that they learn how to practice them.  How well have you learned the scriptures, was it in an organized or haphazard manner?
Do you think you covered all the basic building blocks that should form the foundation of your spirituality? Which instructor did you have for your spiritual education and learning?
He must always keep that copy with him and read it daily as long as he lives. That way he will learn to fear the Lord his God by obeying all the terms of these instructions and decrees.
This regular reading will prevent him from becoming proud and acting as if he is above his fellow citizens. It will also prevent him from turning away from these commands in the smallest way. And it will ensure that he and his descendants will reign for many generations in Israel. – Deuteronomy 17:19-20
The Winning Mindset is the result of a good education,  whether academic or spiritual; excellence is the result of preparation and proper execution of tasks.
Why do we expect so much of ourselves when we have not followed the right course?   Many of us have not been diligent to sit under anyone to teach us the basic foundations of the faith,  many have not learned to ask the *”How to do”* questions, we rather rely on picking from different sources and never submitting to the discipline of teachers.
Timothy learned from his mother and grandmother,  but later in life what he had was not adequate for the new level of service required of him,  so he submitted to Paul as his father to instruct him better.
Apollos was zealously preaching and teaching what he had learned without knowing that he was not fully educated on the revelation of God that was available at that time until Priscilla and Aquilla took him in to disciple him better.
Brethren,  the great commission is the model Jesus left for us to take over the world,  we will win the battles of life by following the pattern.
Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:20
Have you been taught how to win,  and exercise dominion?  The mind must be empowered by truth and revelation to develop the winning mindset.
It is your season of equipping and growth,  are you ready to do the work?  Start to write out the scriptures in your hand,  meditate and understand what it means,  speak it out of your mouth continually,  live by its rules, and watch your victories explode.  Hallelujah!
Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.  Joshua 1:8
