Topic: Trust the Process
Text: Exodus 6:6-9
Key verse: So Moses told the people of Israel what the Lord had said, but they refused to listen anymore. They had become too discouraged by the brutality of their slavery.
Without faith, it is impossible to receive from God. Whatever deliverance, provision or victory we seek will come as we keep holding on to the promise without wavering.
God introduced himself to Moses by a new name, and gave him the history of his relationship with his forefathers, emphasizing the Covenant and the promise to establish them in the land of Canaan. The mission to bring the Israelites out of Egypt was God\’s response to the covenant he made with Abraham and their groaning. What kind of relationship do you have with God? Is it the type that places a demand on God?
God was determined to judge Egypt for its cruelty against Israel, and bring her out with very good compensation for her labour . He told Moses he would harden the heart of Pharaoh therefore Moses was not surprised by Pharoah’s refusal to let them go. God’s ways are revealed in the specific details he gives you as he instructs you, failure to note them will lead to doubts and discouragements about the process.
The request to release the Israelites provoked Pharaoh\’s wrath and he increased their labour resulting in their refusal to believe in Moses plans. Recall how many times Paul heard from God personally in the face of discouragement that he would finish the task God has chosen him for. Similarly, maybe you received wonderful prophecies of what God will do for you and instead the opposite occurred? Maybe when you embarked on a prayer and fasting program to seek God\’s favour over financial challenges that’s when things seemed to become worse. That\’s the devil\’s strategy to distract you from trusting God\’s ability. Don\’t be discouraged. Hang in there, and wait it out because God\’s ways are different, higher and better.
It’s natural to want a quick fix because we want to avoid stress, pain, shame and sadness. But God has a solution that will have immediate and eternal benefits. God\’s ways are always rooted in his infinite wisdom and love for his people. Don\’t be blinded by the physical discomfort or the financial lack, God has a joker reserved for every Pharaoh, it will work in your favour in Jesus name, if you keep believing!
Paul gave a clue in his letter to the Philippians, \”For I know that as you pray for me and the Spirit of Jesus Christ helps me, this will lead to my deliverance.\” We must ask for the Holy Spirit\’s help in prayer, to pass through these tough times, knowing that though we cannot see it God is working in our favour to make good his word concerning us.
Keep believing!
