Topic: Seeing the supernatural

Text: 2Kings 6: 9-23

Key verse: And Elisha prayed, and said, Lord, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.

Life is beautiful and enjoyable when everything works as planned. Many times things just spin out of control just by a false accusation, wrong impression or sometimes a dislike for your person or what you believe.

 Without any notice verbal and physical attacks are aimed at you without mercy. This situation is worse when its a gang up that builds a siege around you. It can be at work , business place or even your own family.

That was the case in our text, Elisha the prophet was minding his business and giving the king security advice as revealed by God, that prevented him from being a prey to the Syrians. The servant of Elisha woke up one morning to realize that they had been surrounded and outnumbered.

Have you ever been in this kind of situation? Maybe you just woke up with a symptom in your body and by the end of the day, you had a bad diagnosis. No problem, our God is an expert in managing surprise attacks.

Notice in the story there was two kinds of vision; Physical and spiritual. Elisha had both, but his servant had only physical sight. Secondly, what he saw produced fear and panic and he cried out to the prophet. Have you seen anything that has made you to fear, that is one kind of vision you need to seek the second type that only God gives.

When you see only from the natural, the outcome is to respond from your mind relying on human reasoning, but when you turn to the Lord for divine perspectives, it produces faith in your heart that helps you to believe in God\’s ability.

This story also reveals a secret that will help you in spiritual warfare; And he answered, Fear not: the prophet declared \”for they that be with us are more than they that be with them.\” Hallelujah!!! When Lucifer fell from heaven, he came down with one third of the angels who became demons, principalities and powers. Two thirds of the angels still remain at your disposal when you call on God! Always remember the numbers are in your favour.

Second secret which you cannot see with your human eyes are; their soldiers are human and their weapons are destructible, but see what the servant saw when God opened his eyes. …And the Lord opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha. Those assigned to fight with and for us are clothed with devouring fire! Hallelujah!

There is no place for fear if you see as God sees, if you work with divine revelations, insights and perspectives. You manifest fear when you believe that you cannot overcome the challenge.

Its time to ask the Lord for the gift of spiritual sight, so that you can pray with divine intelligence and not assumptions. It’s time to remind the devil that though l see the symptoms l also see the hand of God that heals. 

“The hearing ear, and the seeing eye, the Lord hath made even both of them”. Proverbs 20:12

God is the one who leads us in victory so he decides how the battle will be won, you must ask carefully during warfare. The prophet prayed for them to be blind so that he can hand them over to the king of Israel, not to be killed but to be shown love. By feeding and giving them drink, they heaped coals of fire on their adversaries. This strategy ended the siege  without any life lost, and any future threats.

Every battle does not have to get physically violent, trust the Man of War to lead. You cannot destroy everybody all the time, your relatives don\’t have to die for you to have peace, your colleagues don’t need to be sacked for you to be promoted. Let God decide how to handle the matter. Goliath, Haman and Herod had to die, but God determined it.  If Saul who became Paul died because he was persecuting the church, who would have written the epistles in the bible we now enjoy? If you discover your children are responsible for your plight, would you pray for their salvation and redemption or their death?

We wrestle not against human beings even if they are directly responsible, we must pray to discern the spiritual enemy spirits working behind the scene and deal with them decisively

The Lord is faithful to give us rest, let us trust him!
