Overcoming Natural Disabilities

Topic: Overcoming Natural Disabilities

Text: Exodus 4:10-17

Key verse: But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”

In our pursuit to discover the ways of God made known to Moses as documented in Psalms 103:7 we have  seen how God prepares the vessels he uses, dealing with their false beliefs. In our key verse today, Moses turns the spot light away from others, now to himself. He focuses on his natural disabilities.

“O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.”

God graciously turns Moses\’ attention away from himself and back to God.  The man God will use, is the man who sees  God alone. He is the man who will not lean on his natural abilities or strength, but rather the person whose strength is in the Lord. Psalm 84:5

God allows us to go through stuff so we can see how frail we are, he allows us to exhaust our human wisdom, so we can learn to trust his divine wisdom. Moses spoke very boldly and confidently to the Hebrews, but now he saw himself as tongue tied. Look away from your human limitations, your pedigree, your qualifications and everything that seems to disqualify you in life. Look at who you are with now.

Who makes a person’s mouth? Who decides whether people speak or do not speak, hear or do not hear, see or do not see? Is it not I, the Lord? 12 Now go! I will be with you as you speak, and I will instruct you in what to say.”You don’t need to remind God about your shortcomings, he made and knows you.

The disappointment you experienced in the past, hurt and damaged you emotionally. You have tried to bounce back on your own and it hasn’t worked. See possibilities in God! Your partnership with the supernatural God will not fail! Quit worrying about it, Let God settle it. I saw this message in one of my mentor’s notes, l quote… ” When there is a need, God does not solve it practically, he meets it supernaturally”.

God gave Moses his brother, Aaron  to be his mouthpiece. Who has God sent to support the vision he has given you? Have you identified them? At different seasons, God will send different people with different competencies, to help you function maximally.

Look past any limitations in you, look to God your helper, and watch things unfold as your new season begins.

Trust in the Lord!
