Identify Your Connectors

Topic: Identify Your Connectors

Text: 1 Samuel 9: 6-20
Key Verse: The servant said to him, Behold now, there is in this city a man of God, a man held in honor; all that he says surely comes true. Now let us go there. Perhaps he can show us where we should go. 1 Samuel 9:6

Living intentionally is about discerning the people and opportunities in your life that connect you from where you are to where you ought to be.

People who regularly introduce others are called connectors. This term is used in English for words that link two separate sentences that show addition, time, sequence, and contrast.

Though the name of Saul’s servant is not given, he played a vital role in connecting Saul to Samuel. These connectors are like bridges from the present to the future and from the known to the unknown.

There are several examples in scriptures of people and their role as connectors, the maid of Naaman\’s wife, Miriam, Moses ‘sister, Andrew, and John the Baptist.

We must be sensitive to the ways of God; these connectors may not come wearing a title or very dignified clothing; they may be domestic staff, neighbors, and people we work with.
God has great plans for our lives to give us a future and hope, but he uses human beings to bring them to pass.

Your conduct before your bosses, in-laws, or ministers is as essential to God as your conduct before your spouse and domestic staff.

I imagine that Saul must have had a very cordial relationship with the servant for him to volunteer information and even his money to aid him in solving his problem.

Several believers l have heard of and met are so mean to their relatives, domestic staff, and even spouses, but they present a different image to outsiders. Be on the lookout for destiny connectors, treat everyone fairly as God requires without partiality; God may have sent an angel in disguise to you.

Do not forget or neglect or refuse to extend hospitality to strangers [in the brotherhood—being friendly, cordial, and gracious, sharing the comforts of your home and doing your part generously], for, through it, some have entertained angels without knowing it. Hebrews 13:2

Before Samuel met Saul, God had introduced him and revealed his purpose for Saul to Samuel. On arrival, God confirmed his identity; even though he had the information about the donkeys, there was more in store for Saul. He delayed Saul and made him attend the event.

In the journey of destiny, many people are in a hurry, they compare themselves with others and start to pressure themselves to get to milestones that God has not determined. Wait for God; hurry makes people miss opportunities. Learn to be sensitive to conversations with spiritual people; their words might indicate the next level God is taking you. Hang around them for as long as God may want; it’s not in vain.

Even though Paul had a call and a unique encounter with the Lord, he needed a Barnabas to introduce him to the church community.

Understand [this], my beloved brethren. Let every man be quick to hear [a ready listener], slow to speak, slow to take offense, and to get angry. James 1:19

In discipleship-making movements, the key to the beginning of a work is the”Man of Peace .”He is the connector to the missionary and the community he wants to work in. Are you in a new environment, workplace, or family setting? Seek out a man of peace; he is your connector to future relationships. Humble yourself, take notice of people, listen to them, and build a healthy relationship with them; you never know when the connector will appear.

Prayer

Thank you, Father, for the connectors who have been a blessing in my life’s journey; l repent of any attitude that has put off good relationships that ought to have blessed me. Deliver me from pride, impatience, and insensitivity. Teach me to value and honor people at all times in Jesus’ name. Amen.
