Grace Is A Gift

Understanding the Grace of God

We have already established from the scriptures that God, by nature, is Gracious.
We also saw that Grace means Favour.

Today, we will see that this Grace or Favour is undeserved, unmerited, and unearned.

For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, Neither did their own arm save them: But thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, Because thou hadst a favor unto them.
Psalm 44:3 KJV

It says, “they got not the land by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them.” It means they did not possess the land  by their own strength or effort; it now tells us how they were able to have the Land  ” but thy right hand and thine arm and the light of thy countenance.”

We want to establish today that Grace  (Favour ) is unearned, unmerited, and undeserved. It is a BLESSING from God. It is a GIFT.

We see this Truth amplified in the New Testament.

For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.
Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 NKJV

For it is by Grace [God’s remarkable compassion and favor drawing you to Christ] that you have been saved [actually delivered from judgment and given eternal life] through faith. And this [salvation] is not of yourselves [not through your own effort], but it is the [undeserved, gracious] gift of God; not as a result of [your] works [nor your attempts to keep the Law], so that no one will [be able to] boast or take credit in any way [for his salvation].
Ephesians 2:8‭-‬9 AMP

Everything we receive from God ( Favour included) is a Gift.

Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above and comes down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow of turning.
James 1:17 NKJV

A GIFT is not something anyone works for. It is freely given; it is no LONGER a gift if you worked or labored for it.

So for a gift, we have no sense of entitlement, the claim of achievement, or anything to boast about.

John answered and said, “A man can receive nothing unless it has been given to him from heaven.
John 3:27 NKJV.

Prayer:  Lord, thank you for the gift of your Grace. Please help me to understand and appreciate better the gift of your Grace in my life

God is surely a Father of grace, for He makes His grace abound in us.
My Christian journey so far has been one of sheer grace, for a loving Father held on, until I came to the realisation of Who He truly is in my life.
    I bless His name.
