Let God Lead

Topic: Let God Lead

Text: Psalm 139:10

Key verse: … “Even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me”.

The existence of God is not a matter of dispute to many here, we believe in God, angels and demons. The supernatural is not something Africans struggle with, we have so many examples that point to the manifestations of beings that are not subject to laws of science.  Everyone believes in God. But what do we believe about God?

When evil seems to prevail, and we experience pain, loss, destruction of lives and property, sometimes we believe God is punishing us for some sin we have committed. Other people believe it is the sins, oaths and covenants of our fore fathers that are responsible for what has happened.

While this may be the case at times, the truth remains that God does not send evil to anyone. There is no evil in God, God will not acquit the sinner, nor excuse his sin, but God does not punish us with evil.

The world lies in wickedness, because the devil rules here. Jesus taught us to pray …“thy Kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven”. God’s will is not being done on earth as is desired. When evil happens, like sickness that leads to death, it is the consequence of the rule of Satan on earth. When people yield themselves to do the will of Satan, and they make wrong choices, to steal, kill, kidnap and destroy lives and property, they are not doing God’s will!!!

God is not behind the evil you experienced. Rather, God is beside you to deliver you out of its consequences. His hand is there to guide you

The ripple effect of evil can affect almost every aspect of a person’s life if not well managed. A financial loss can lead to a health challenge, the loss of a loved one can lead to financial loss, homelessness, sickness and even depression. Its consequences can affect several members of the same household. Don’t try to fix things yourself, when you have God by your side ready to help you.

Those who believe in God as their saviour, wait for him to lead. I heard a woman testify of how she escaped from an abusive man to a man who claimed to be a believer, and she said to herself, “…l will not look for a believer this time, l will pick who l trust.” The second marriage was even more traumatic!

Let God guide you with his hand. Don’t be quick to sell things, don’t make haste to go to court, don’t listen to everybody who offers free unsolicited advice, listen to God.

I don’t know the source of this phrase, but people use it a lot of times, l do not believe it. …” Follow your heart”, how can you follow a broken heart? How can you follow a heart that is full of lust, covetousness, anger, jealousy and pride? This is one of the most destructive lies the devil has thrown out there to deceive, confuse and waste lives! Don’t follow your evil heart, follow the master! Be led by the Spirit not your heart!

Even there your hand will guide me, and your strength will support me.

He will not only guide you, but he also supplies the strength: physical, emotional, spiritual or financial that you need to obey his counsel.

He travelled with Ruth back to Israel, and gave her the strength to survive in a foreign land and work at the fields, something she may not have done before.

How did Joseph find the strength to forgive his family and go a step further to relocate them to Egypt to live a comfortable life? They are several stories, of women who fought legally for the pardon and release of those who murdered their children or spouses after they discovered they had met the Lord, while in prison.

It is difficult to imagine forgiving a murderer, but is possible for God to do, when you rely on his strength.

Don’t look to yourself to find answers, your knowledge is limited. Don’t rely on your human strength to face and overcome trauma, look to God!

God’s invitation to you today is, … “Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest”. Matthew 11:28

Write a letter to God this morning, pour out your heart, your fears, frustration, regrets, pain, everything you are concerned about. Ask for mercy and forgiveness for trying to be your own Master, and making wrong decisions that have hurt you and others. Surrender to him the issues that are before you, don’t tell God how to do it, just ask for help. Remind him, that Jesus has paid for it to be fixed, and you want to trust his sacrifice on the cross. Lay that document at his feet, and leave it there!

You will only go back to it as you cross out each one of them when God sorts it out.

Do you believe God can do it?  I believe!!!

Welcome to the beginning of better days, your healing starts now, your restoration and recovery starts now!

Blessings
