Face Your Fears

Topic: Face your fears

Text: 1 Samuel 28

Key verse: When Saul saw the vast Philistine army, he became frantic with fear

My heart was grieved as l read through our text, recall how God divinely choose Saul and put him on the path to a glorious destiny, a position no one from his lineage had imagined would ever be theirs, since a prophecy had gone forth, that the scepter will not depart from Judah. He had fear in his heart even after he had prophesied with the prophets, and ran to hide on the day of his presentation to Israel, yet God still believed in him.

Yes, God believes in you who is reading this devotional, and he has ordained great things you will do in this life for the kingdom. You must get rid of any fear in your life, search it out, bring it to the light by calling it by name, and overcome it, lest it pollutes you. Saul never dealt with his fears, If you don\’t deal with sin in your life it grows, and it leads to other evils. Imagine Saul going to meet a medium to seek the future for him. Fear of the unknown gripped him and when the Lord would not speak to him, he went looking for the witches he had driven out of Israel. Fear that is not overcome can lead you back to your old vomit!

Temptation comes from our desires, which entice us and drag us away, James 1:14

When we are so desperate to hold on to a position of power, we are tempted to seek help from alternative sources. When we are desperate to succeed and become prosperous because of the fear of poverty, we give in to all kinds of compromise. Without faith it is impossible to please God, feed your faith with the word of God, and God will strengthen you in the inner man to overcome every fear in your life, one after the other in Jesus\’ name. A final word: Be strong in the Lord and his mighty power.

The only fear you should have is the fear of the Lord: Fear of the Lord is the foundation of wisdom. Knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment. Prov. 9:10

The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, to depart from the snares of death. Prov. 14:27

The fear of the unknown eventually led Saul to the house of a witch, and when he received the negative prophecy, he had no strength to pray or ask for mercy from the Lord. May the Lord preserve you and keep you from ending up like Saul in Jesus\’ name. For though he had the potential to rule, he had the wrong mindset: a heart full of fear!

The future is in God\’s hand, you can safely trust the unknown future into the hands of a God who has never failed. When you allow your mind to paint all kinds of terrible pictures without the presence of God in it, it breeds panic. God can handle everything that comes our way, whether biological or nuclear weapons, he is Lord; if this flesh is destroyed he can preserve my soul and give me a new body. \”My life is hidden in God\”! Say it out Loud! Hallelujah!
