Divine Timing

Topic: Divine Timing

Text: Philippians 2:6-9

Key verse: Then God gave Christ the highest place and honored his name above all others. – Philippians 2:9

One of the names of God is Alpha and Omega, the beginning and end of all things, who holds time in his hand and dwells in eternity. Dear friends, don’t forget that for the Lord one day is the same as a thousand years, and a thousand years is the same as one day. – 2 Peter 3:8

When a believer is on the path of obedience to do God’s will, time seems to stretch longer than twenty-four hours a day. The pain and difficulty seem to be louder than all you have known about the person, nature, and character of God. The enemy of faith fear attacks your belief system at its foundation questioning your convictions and persuasions.

This is normal, it is not new, it has happened to many, that is one way the devil attacks, believers. That is why we are encouraged in the scriptures to take up the shield of faith to wade off those fiery darts when they come.Let your faith be like a shield, and you will be able to stop all the flaming arrows of the evil one. – Ephesians 6:16

The trial of our faith does not last forever because God has a timer for every situation. He determines when seasons change, the power is in His hands. A mission never lasts forever, the one who sends you on that mission knows when it is completed and will surely recall you back to base to rest.

But God has promised us a Sabbath when we will rest, even though it has not yet come. On that day God’s people will rest from their work, just as God rested from his work. – Hebrews 4:9-10

When will that day be? How long are we to wait for God to show up before we give? These are some of the questions we are faced with as we wait on God. The answer l can give is the same Jesus gave to his disciples; While the apostles were still with Jesus, they asked him, “Lord, are you now going to give Israel its king again?”Jesus said to them, “You don’t need to know the time of those events that only the Father controls. – Acts 1:6-7

You don’t need to know the time of those events that only the Father controls. I learned from Tim Elmore that there are three buckets we must have, the first should contain things out of our control, the second should contain things we can control and the third is for things we can influence rather than control.  If you see life through this perspective, you will focus more on those things within your control or influence.

Jesus turned the attention of the disciples to what they should focus on, and those were his last words to them before he returned to heaven.

But the Holy Spirit will come upon you and give you power. Then you will tell everyone about me in Jerusalem, in all Judea, in Samaria, and everywhere in the world.”After Jesus had said this and while they were watching, he was taken up into a cloud. They could not see him, – Acts 1:8-9

Focus on God’s purpose for your life, don’t weary yourself with finding answers about time, it has led a lot of believers into seeking mediums who disguise as Prophets. Our key verse says… Then God gave Christ the highest place and honoured his name above all others. – The word then is used after something has happened or has been accomplished or completed, God knows when to usher you to a new season.

After Jesus had completed the assignment that brought him to the earth and passed the test, he experienced resurrection and returned to heaven where God honoured him. Many believers want to be honoured while still on the way to the Cross, some want to be celebrated after every milestone. Jesus did not model that neither did Apostle Paul. Focus on your assignment until God welcomes you home, then the celebration and honour will start.

I have fought well. I have finished the race, and I have been faithful. So a crown will be given to me for pleasing the Lord. He judges fairly, and on the day of judgment, he will give a crown to me and to everyone else who wants him to appear with power. – 2 Timothy 4:7-8

Search your heart today, are you hurting because you believe the season you are in has lasted too long? Are you tired of waiting, weary, or worried?  Be encouraged! God’s eyes are on you, you are not abandoned or forgotten and you will soon experience a new season, compensation that is worth the  wait. You are the apple of God’s eyes, you can’t be forgotten!

In his kindness, God called you to share in his eternal glory using Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation. – 1 Peter 5:10

Wait for God, His divine timing is in your favour. Ask for grace to help in the area where you need it the most. Find someone to share your experience with, and you will find comfort and encouragement to go on to the finish line.
