Acts Of Faith

Text: Hebrews 11

Key verse: “It was faith that made him establish the Passover and order the blood to be sprinkled on the doors so that the Angel of Death would not kill the first-born sons of the Israelites”

The Christian faith teaches us the existence of supernatural power that is invisible to the human eyes but has the ability to influence the lives of man on a physical basis.

From the creation story in Genesis to the awesome revelation given to John on the isle of Patmos, the Bible is full of miraculous events initiated by different acts of faith.

For the purpose of this devotional, we will define an act of faith as the outcome of belief on God’s word without a doubt that it will achieve what is expected.

Moses had experienced miraculous signs in the wilderness using his rod. He had also seen that same rod subdue the other magical powers in Egypt at the word of God. Plague after plague had displayed the power of a sovereign God over nature as the hardness of Pharaoh’s heart, was judged.

The last plague was going to take place not just at the word of Moses or by his obedience but rather by the collective display of faith by all Israelites living in Egypt.

Moses was saddled with the task of building the faith of the people up to trust in the sacrifice of the Passover Lamb to save their firstborn sons.

How was Moses able to develop the skill to hear God so accurately? How did Moses come to believe that God had the ability to know every Israelite family individually, and know which child was born first? There were several reasons why he could have doubted this instruction and the logistics challenge involved in moving the Israelites out of Egypt, young and old, with all their possessions, but we see the display of radical faith in a God of all possibilities.

You must grow your faith in God, everything in nature that grows must be fed. How do you feed your faith?

No one can have faith without hearing the message about Christ. Romans 10:17 (CEV)

Nike brand says…”Just do it”. I believe that was Moses’ slogan too, Just do it.

If we must experience the miraculous or live by faith in the 21st century, we must be willing to believe God’s word unconditionally. Sometimes the knowledge we have acquired through science and our experiences in the past can muffle our faith in divine possibilities.

Every miracle in the Bible happened because someone dared to trust God.

You don’t have to start by parting the sea, but you can start your diary of Acts of Faith by simply obeying God on a daily basis. It does not require big faith to experience a miracle, it simply requires faith as small as a mustard seed. Just believe, don’t try to understand or explain how God will do his part, just believe.

These are the days when we need miracles more than ever, in our health, provision for needs and protection from violence, and all kinds of natural disasters. You must feed your faith with God’s promises for everything you expect. Let your heart incubate the word of God, till it grows and your mouth can boldly speak it forth.

Don’t fail to shut out the weeds of unbelief, “it has never happened before”, “I’m not sure it can work”, “What if it does not work?” Those are the voices of doubt, they will choke any faith big or small.

The power to interrupt natural occurrences belong to God, but it can work in your favour if you act in faith.

Faith follows a pattern, it starts in your heart, flows to your tongue, and moves you to obedience.

You don’t have enough faith,” Jesus told them. “I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible.” Matt 17:20

Start today to speak out what you believe and release the creative power of God to work on your behalf in Jesus’ name.
