No More Manna

Text: Joshua 5:8-12

Topic: No More Manna

After all the males had been circumcised, they rested in the camp until they were healed. Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away from the shame of your slavery in Egypt.” So that place has been called Gilgal to this day. While the Israelites were camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, they celebrated Passover on the evening of the fourteenth day of the first month. The very next day they began to eat unleavened bread and roasted grain harvested from the land. No manna appeared on the day they first ate from the crops of the land, and it was never seen again. So from that time on the Israelites ate from the crops of Canaan. Joshua 5:8-12

God entered a Covenant with Abraham in Genesis: This is my covenant, which ye shall keep, between you and me and thy seed after thee; Every man child among you shall be circumcised. Genesis 17:10
But as they left Egypt, those born in the wilderness were not circumcised until they entered Canaan. God commanded Joshua to circumcise them before they proceeded to possess the land. Listen to what the Lord said after they had completed the circumcision process and had healed.

Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Today I have rolled away the shame of your slavery in Egypt.”
When we break our covenant with God, we live in shame.!
The circumcision for believers in Christ is defined in Colossians 2:11
In union with Christ, you were circumcised, not with the circumcision that is made by human beings, but with the circumcision made by Christ, which consists of being freed from the power of this sinful self.

God required this circumcision before they could start enjoying the promised land. Examine yourself; have you submitted yourself to the Lord for the circumcision of your heart?
The Lord does not want us to give a foothold to the enemy; the devil specializes in accusing believers before the Father, and we must not give him a place.

Then I heard a loud voice shouting across the heavens, “It has come at last— salvation and power and the Kingdom of our God, and the authority of his Christ. For the accuser of our brothers and sisters has been thrown down to earth— the one who accuses them before our God day and night. Rev 12:10

Examine yourself, especially your heart, motives, and values. You cannot prevail against the enemy if you are not keeping your covenant with God!
God gave them access to the grains in the Land of Canaan the moment the hindrance was removed.
God gives a permanent solution to issues!
The moment they entered the place of the inheritance, the temporary food ceased.
God is ready to release corn and wine to as many as are ready to put off worldly ways of sin.

God is calling us to move from a life of handouts to a life of supply and sufficiency.

The promised land is a place of harvest; the inheritance is other people’s harvest!

Look at this scripture!
You know the saying, ‘One plants and other harvests.’ And it\’s true. I sent you to harvest where you didn’t plant; others had already done the work, and now you will get to gather the harvest.\” John 4:37-38

This statement was made by the Lord himself.
It is possible to reap where you didn’t sow.

You do not work for an inheritance, it is another man’s labor, but you can reap from their labor because of your relationship.

The Israelites first possessed the harvest they didn’t labor for, before they started to sow.
The inheritance is not about labor but unmerited favor!

Prayer

  1. Father, thank you for revealing the truth from your word that will set me free from shame.

2 Show me, Lord, the uncircumcised places of my heart in Jesus’ name

  1. Father, change the season of handouts and hand me downs;
usher me into my season of handover in Jesus’ name.
  2. Father, be gracious to me in Jesus’ name. Amen
