The Goal Of Prayer

Topic: The Goal Of Prayer

Text: Matthew 6:13

Key Verse: And do not lead us into hard testing, but keep us safe from the Evil One. For kingship, power and glory are yours forever. Amen.‘ – Matthew 6:13 CJB

In this concluding devotion on the prayer model, Jesus taught the disciples, the last statement though not captured in all the gospels, or rendered in all versions, captures the goal of all prayers to our heavenly Father.

For kingship, power and glory are yours forever. Amen.’ – Matthew 6:13 CJB

John the Baptist came inviting the people to repent for the Kingdom of God is near; Jesus came declaring that \”the Kingdom of God is upon you!” God’s desire right from the fall of man in the garden of Eden is to restore his kingdom rule of righteousness, declare his power on the earth over the manipulations of Satan, and take glory for His work! In most of Jesus\’ parables, we learn about the Kingdom of heaven.

“Turn from your sins to God, for the Kingdom of Heaven is near!” – Matthew 3:2 CJB

Yeshua went all over the Galil teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the Good News of the Kingdom and healing people from every kind of disease and sickness. – Matthew 4:23 CJB

And this Good News about the Kingdom will be preached through all the world for a witness to all people, and then the end will come. – Matthew 24:14 GNT

Do you have God’s Kingdom in mind when you pray? What is the goal of your praying? Are your comfort, well-being, and prosperity the only motivation that makes you pray? Listen to Jesus speak about our pursuits and goals.

Instead, be concerned above everything else with the Kingdom of God and with what he requires of you, and he will provide you with all these other things. – Matthew 6:33 GNT

As you pray, watch your motives, values, and heart. Prayer is not a magic wand that gives you everything you desire; instead, it is a privilege that provides us with access into the presence of God, to co-labor with Him to bring His Kingdom down on the earth, to extend it from nation to nation and from coast to coast.

Jesus gave the release of the keys to the Kingdom to enable us to prevail in prayer as we enforce God’s kingship, power, and glory.

I will give you the keys of the Kingdom of heaven; what you prohibit on earth will be prohibited in heaven, and what you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven.” – Matthew 16:19 GNT.

In conclusion, remember the prayer begins with; Our Father, God is Father to all; he gives good gifts even to those who hate him. Our prayers must not hurt another person who also calls God Father. No good Father will love to turn his children against each other.

Seek God’s glory as you pray; let God take the credit for the outcome of your praying. So often, these days, testimonies are skewed to give glory to ministers and their prophetic declarations, the number of days of fasting, and the particular prayer Mountain visited. Without the power in the name of Jesus, no prayer can be answered by God!

Or you pray and don’t receive because you pray with the wrong motive, that of wanting to indulge your desires. – James 4:3 JCB

The authority of the name of Jesus causes every knee to bow in reverence! Everything and everyone will one day submit to this name—in the heavenly realm, in the earthly realm, and the demonic realm. And every tongue will proclaim in every language: “Jesus Christ is Lord Yahweh,” bringing glory and honor to God, his Father! – Philippians 2:10-11 TPT

Prayer

Our Father, thank you for these lessons on prayer; teach us to pray like Jesus. May we often pray, be intimate and genuine, and may our partnership with the Holy Spirit in prayers establish your Kingdom wherever we go until your will is done on earth as it is done in heaven, in Jesus’ name, Amen.
