When your mind doubts

Topic: When your mind doubts

Text: Exodus 4:1-13

Key verse: But Moses pleaded with the Lord, “O Lord, I’m not very good with words. I never have been, and I’m not now, even though you have spoken to me. I get tongue-tied, and my words get tangled.” – Exodus 4:10

One of the greatest threats to a winning mindset is when your mind doubts your ability or the possibility of your success. This is a natural process that everyone goes through on the path to greatness, but some people never get past those self-doubts.

Self-doubts occur when you are reminded of your natural disabilities. Sometimes your mind recalls your pedigree or your background in society. Past failure can sometimes act as a stumbling block to your ability to make progress in life, but all these challenges can be overcome when you learn to believe in what God says about you and rely on the people he sends into your life to support you.

Moses was raised as an Egyptian, particularly as the son of Pharoah’s daughter. This statement implies he had access to the premium education and training that was available in Egypt, yet none of these things gave him enough confidence in himself, rather his self-doubts were stronger because of the setbacks in his past due to wrong judgments.

Today, l want you to review the different opportunities you have turned down because you have not been able to resolve your past mistakes and wrong choices. What is it about those thoughts do you find overwhelming? If you can identify it, then it will be resolved and easy for you to move on.

No matter how often honest people fall, they always get up again; but disaster destroys the wicked.- Proverbs 24:16

Moses had failed in his pursuit to avenge his Hebrew brethren in Egypt, but that did not imply that he was unfit for the role, it only revealed his lack of dependence on God for the right strategy and appropriate timing. He had concluded in his mind that it was a

Job for another person.

But Moses answered, “No, Lord, please send someone else.” – Exodus 4:13

Have you given up on yourself because of your many failures? God is not finished with you yet! The fact that you are reading this now is an indication that you are still willing to start over if need be.

God resolved every excuse Moses gave, even the fear that he didn’t voice out. He feared that Pharaoh was still after his life because of the Egyptian he killed, but he didn’t speak it out.

While Moses was still in Midian, the Lord said to him, “Go back to Egypt, for all those who wanted to kill you are dead.” – Exodus 4:19

What are the secret fears weighing you down? You beat about the bush and give lame excuses about why you cannot be who God has chosen you to be when you know the real reason behind your fear. Overcome that fear by first acknowledging it, God will take care of it when you ask him in prayer.

Esther was afraid for her life when Modecai challenged her to do something about the decree, she looked around her and mobilized prayer support for herself as she took the right step forward.

Even Timothy was afraid to take up the task of leadership because of all the older people around him, culturally it was not normal that a younger person would lead older people. These reasons notwithstanding, God chooses whom he wills. If you have been chosen then believe in the wisdom of God and not the doubts of your mind.

The Lord said, “I will go with you and give you peace.”- Exodus 33:14

God can send people to assist you and give you divine abilities that silence your opponents. Believe in God’s word about you today and live with a winning mindset.
