A Possibility Thinker

Topic: A Possibility Thinker

Key scripture: Luke 14:31-32(CEV)
Key verse: Before he goes out to battle, won’t he first sit down and decide if he can win? If he thinks he won’t be able to defend himself, he will send messengers and ask for peace while the other king is still a long way off.

A winning mindset is all about the possibility of thinking. Jesus reveals to us in our text today the power of the mind to determine whether we engage in a battle or not. The mind is the place where options are weighed and conclusions are drawn on what we want to do and what we expect will be the outcome.

Before any words are spoken or action is taken, the king sits down to decide if he can win. Possibility thinking is the ability to see a positive outcome always. This is not what may be considered as blind faith, but rather it is rooted in the ability to see enough potential in you and capability to engage and overcome opposition. Some people are born optimists, they always see the glass as half full of water, while some others, people like me, will always spend all the time worrying about the rest of the water that ought to be in the glass.
This attitude of over-processing what is not available completely cripples our ability to take any decision all. Praise God who has delivered me, and is still working on me, that is why this devotional came into existence. I am on the path to becoming a woman of faith, a chronic possibility thinker. Hallelujah!

The possibility thinker is not one who is blind to reality but has adequate information about his strengths and the strengths of the adversary. The decision to proceed in battle depends on how he thinks.
…Before he goes out to battle, won’t he first sit down and decide if he can win?

If he thinks he won’t be able to defend himself, he will send messengers and ask for peace while the other king is still a long way off.

What you think determines your belief!
If you keep thinking of failure,  betrayal, disappointment,  shame, and all kinds of unfavorable thoughts about yourself and others,  you eventually develop a negativity mindset.
The mind is a gift from God that enables us to make the right choices, but you must understand the dynamics of its operation for it to serve you well. It’s the ability to produce possibility thinking is dependent on how well it has been exercised in faith.
In Judges 7, Gideon went to battle against the Midianites with twenty-two thousand soldiers, while their enemies were innumerable still the Lord stripped down his army to three hundred men after they took a test.

And the Midianites and the Amalekites and all the children of the east lay along in the valley like grasshoppers for multitude; and their camels were without number, as the sand by the seaside for multitude. – Judges 7:12

Gideon did not have enough courage in their ability to win even though he was a firm believer in the miracles God had done in the past. God helped him by giving him access to information that completely drowned his fears.

As soon as Gideon heard about the dream and what it meant, he bowed down to praise God. Then he went back to the Israelite camp and shouted, “Let’s go! The Lord is going to let us defeat the Midianite army.” Judges 7:15

He received information and his mind processed it to believe that God was going to defeat the Midianite army. His eyes turned from himself, the three hundred men, and the tools they had in place of weapons, to the ability and willingness of God to give them victory.

Possibility thinking is when you take your eyes off yourself and turn them to the Lord, and what he is able to work out through you.

How do you think? What do you believe about yourself and your life? Do you know God has already planned that you will win? It doesn’t depend on your tools or weapons, it depends on God’s ability and your willingness to be a possibility thinker.

God is working in you to make you willing and able to obey him. Philippians 2:13

Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ: – Philippians 1:6
Take note of these two scriptures, it is God at work in you, a possibility thinker puts God in the right place of authority, he is the one at work and he takes all the credit for the victory, God takes all the Glory!

Hallelujah!

Prayer
Ask the Lord to forgive you for developing and nurturing a negativity mindset.

Enthrone the Lord in your heart as your power source for every assignment, make Him Lord over every decision in your life.

Pray for a renewed mind like Gideon, to face your battles with faith knowing that God has determined to give you victory always in Jesus’ name.
