What to Remember

Topic: What to Remember

Text: Exo. 13:3-8,14

Key verse: So Moses said to the people, “This is a day to remember forever—the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. Today the Lord has brought you out by the power of his mighty hand. (Remember, eat no food containing yeast.)

From the time Moses and Aaron appeared before Pharaoh the first time till when they finally left Egypt for good l noted that the Lord mentioned that he will harden Pharaoh\’s heart. He provided Moses reasons for this decision and l believe they are very relevant for our review.

God wanted to bring Israel out of Egypt by great acts of judgments. God likes to teach our enemies lessons through his judgments. All who mistreated Israel always had a payback!

God said … “That the Egyptians may know that l am Lord”.  There are many powers in the kingdom of darkness that stand against God\’s purpose on the earth, but Jehovah alone is Lord!

“That l may show you my power so that my name maybe proclaimed in all the earth”. God\’s name must be published and proclaimed all over the world through the works that he has done. The miracles in Egypt earned him the name, The Man of War!

“That you may tell in the hearing of your son and of your grandson how l have dealt harshly with the Egyptians and what signs l have done among them” . Our God is a covenant keeper, his desire is that our revelations and encounters with him must be passed on to the next generation.

These are a few of the reasons the Lord gave Moses, God has a reason too for the path your journey has taken over the years. Your delayed promotion, your loss in business, failed relationships, ministry setbacks etc are a few of the events  you may have passed through. All these will not be in vain but will work for your good in Jesus name. Amen.

So Moses said to the people, “This is a day to remember forever—the day you left Egypt, the place of your slavery. God in this verse tells us what we must remember. Your focus must be on what God did for you and the miraculous interventions. That is what will give him glory! That is what will cause his name to be proclaimed.  When we dwell instead on the hurts, betrayal, rejection and broken promises from men, we give room to heart wounds that take ages to heal and ultimately cause us to miss the blessing. It is possible to forget the torment of Egypt, it is possible to forget the terrible names you have been called. It is possible to forget, that\’s why the Lord commanded it.

Do not remember the things that have happened before. Do not think about the things of the past. Isaiah 43:18 Choose only to remember the benefits of the Lord. Instead of remembering a dude cheque someone gave you when you were in critical need of money, instead remember when someone without your asking paid for your children\’s education. What you remember will determine how quickly you heal.

Remember, eat no food containing yeast. Yeast represents sin. God warns his people to stay away from sin. Anything that looks like sin, you must remember to avoid, hatred, pride, bitterness, malice, anger are just a few things we must remember to put away from our lives, if we desire to move to the Promised Land, the place of fruitfulness, peace and joy. Read Job 11:13-16

God wants you healed from every hurt, restored and productive in the kingdom.  Learn to remember to pass on the testimonies without the yeast.
