Speak Hope

Topic: Speak Hope

Text: Luke 8:43 – 48

Key verse: She came up behind him and touched the fringe of his garment, and immediately her discharge of blood ceased. Verse 44

Storms have a way of coming in the night seasons of life. At the beginning you do all you know how to do intellectually, professionally, spiritually and even culturally. You seek out the counsel of friends and family, neighbours etc. Everyone assures you that their method has worked magically for those who used  it. Hmmm, l have been there.😰

Then after several months  or years of trial , you find yourself in the same position like the woman in our text today,

… and though she had spent all her living on physicians, she could not be healed by anyone .

This condition of financial brokenness, in addition to the initial cause of the pain often leads to sitting in darkness.

Sitting in darkness is when you refuse to try again.

When you decide to keep looking back instead of ahead. It is a condition that makes you doubt and query every counsel that promises you healing, comfort, joy, hope and new beginnings.

Having failed so many times, all you can see is impossibility.

This woman had limitations physically. Culturally, she was not supposed to come out lest she defile others with her uncleanness.  But she determined to try again!

for she said to herself, “If I only touch his garment, I will be made well.” Matthew 9:21

What are you saying to yourself? I can’t try again! It won’t work! Am tired! There’s no need!

Remember, death and life lies in the power of the tongue….. Choose to speak life.

Sitting in darkness is when you refuse to trust again, believe anyone but your fears. Its when you choose not to love again, hope again or believe God’s word.

What did it take Naaman to believe the report of the slave girl? The solution you need may come from an unlikely source. Remember, Jesus had just began his ministry and the woman kept hearing of other people’s testimonies.

She set the stage for her own miracle!

Today, ask the Holy Spirit what he wants to write in your new chapter, no matter how impossible it sounds, write it down.

Take action! Your light has come! No sitting, no looking back! Go forward!

Blessings!
